![]() Rapid cyber attacks don't really happen like they do in the movies. We bridge the gap from lower echolon up to national assets to request a cyber effect as needed.Įither way with cyber effects it take very high approval and is planned months to years in advance. We are labled as cyber support since we help defend the network from attacks on tatical networks and assets. It's long hours and like I said before working national mission has real world effects a lot of the time.ġ7E is a tactical asset so be Division echolon and below with a focus on attacking and defending the electronic spectrum. That being said, I have done my research into the requirements needed for me to reclass my last to obstacles are the interim-TS. You are official labled as offensive cyber, but don't think you are hacking the matrix shit. Greetings Brothers and Sisters, I am currently serving as a 68W medic of 10 years, and I have been eyeing 25D or 17C as possibilities to reclass but due to requirements to 17C I am unable to reclass into that. You will still do field stuff, but always be the one in a hard stand building and not slumming it with maybe a tent if you are lucky. The second recruiter was awesome.Īs a 17E I can tell you that us VS 17C are very different missions.ġ7C are a national asset which limits your selection for Duty stations, but also keeps you out of normal dumb Army stuff a lot. My first recruiter gave me inaccurate information (which I found out through researching Army regs and forums), so I went to another one in a different town. If he gives you smack, find a different recruiter. If you dont already have experience in IT youre probably not going to be selected for 17C. They will try to get you to change your mind, and they might make up some BS, but it is your career, don’t let them have that power over you. When you go to MEPS for your physical and they try getting you to sign a contract, DO NOT sign unless they give you 17C. My advice: Tell your recruiter you are waiting for, and only for, 17C. All you do is tell the recruiter you want 17C and do not budge, at all. I think 17C contracts are a minimum 6 years, with no enlistment bonuses. You have to go through BCT, AIT, and then two years at a unit before you can submit a packet to reclass. Regarding reclass, you are looking at roughly 3-3.5 years in the Army before you can reclass from 17E to 17C. Sure we work together, but we do very different things. One is on keyboard (17C), the other one is out in the woods with a receiving device and an antenna (17E). We are both classified as "cyber", but are very different.ġ7C do actual cyber things (for the most part) whereas (from what I know) 17E deals with intercepting and creating signals that are propagated through multiple pieces of equipment.
